Hudson High School Gymnastics took first place at the River Falls invitational meet on Saturday with a season high of 138.55. Caroline E. had a great day placing 5th on vault with a 9.15, 6th on bars with an 8.5, 4th on floor with a 9.35 and 2nd in the all around with a 35.35. Ava J. also had a great day placing first on the vault with a 9.375 and taking 6th in the all around with a 34.70. Amber R. also made the podium with an 8th place finish on the vault with a 9.0. Paige H. again only competed on the bars and won the event with a 9.30. It was overall a great team win with all the girls showing consistency in all four events. Congratulations Raider’s Gymnastics!
Mr. Mick of Space St. Croix visited River Crest 3rd graders on December 21st, to share exciting information about the New Horizons Kuiper Belt Extended Mission! On New Year’s Day 2019, 12:33am EST, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft will fly by Kuiper Belt, nicknamed Ultima Thule. The students were excited to learn about the mission and received a paper model of the spacecraft.
Hudson High School Gymnastics hosted their second conference home meet of the season on Friday night against River Falls and Superior. The Raiders won the triangular meet with a final team score of 135.10. River Falls finished with a 134.525 and Superior scored a 109.20.
For Hudson, Caroline Erickson led the team taking second in the all around competition with a 35.00. She placed first on floor with a 9.375, tied for second on vault with a 9.2 and fourth on the uneven bars with a 8.45. Also helping out the varsity team were freshmen Ava Jensen and Ava Wilbur. Ava Jensen took a first place finish on vault with a 9.25 and third place in the all around with a 34.125. She also placed second on balance beam with a 8.325. Ava Jensen and Ava Wilbur tied for fourth on the floor exercise with an 8.9. Ava Wilbur also tied for sixth on the vault along with sophomore Amber Robey with an 8.4. Amber Robey also finished seventh on the balance beam and ninth on the floor exercise. Sophomore Paige Hillman has been suffering from an ankle injury but still competed on the uneven bars and took first place at the meet with a 9.20.
The Hudson JV team also won their meet with a final team score of 113.35. Leading the JV team in the all around was freshman Evy Roth taking first place with a score of 30.45. Evy placed second on JV beam with a 8.0 and second on JV vault with a 8.0. Sophomore Grace Dickinson took first place on the vault with an 8.1. Maia Malchow placed second on JV floor with an 8.2 and first place on the uneven bars with a 7.7.
The next gymnastics meet is on Saturday January 12th, 11:00am, at the River Falls High School Winter Wonderland Invitational. There are two conference meets remaining in January against Rice Lake and Menomonie.
