Summer Driver’s Education Classes

Northwood Technical College will be providing the classroom and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training for the Driver’s Education Program for Hudson School District. Your son/daughter must be 14 ½ years old before the class starts to be eligible for the classroom portion of Driver’s Ed. Class information is listed below. The cost of the 30-hour classroom is $125 per student. Pre-registration and payment are required in order to save your child a spot in the class. Class size is limited, and classes fill quicklyClasses are held at the Hudson High School and currently scheduled to be in room J104. You will receive BTW information once your child has successfully passed the classroom portion. Confirmation letters will be emailed approximately two weeks prior to the start of class. Please check the dates carefully to make sure your child will be able to attend ALL the dates of the session they wish to enroll in. Students who miss one excused session are required to attend the make-up session. Students who miss two or more sessions will be dropped out of the class with no refund.

Please note: Northwood Tech adheres to high school policies regarding inclement weather. If school is closed or afterschool activities are canceled due to inclement weather, driver’s education class or behind-the-wheel will also be canceled and a make-up session scheduled.

Registration and payment must be submitted at least one week before the class start date. This allows Northwood Tech time to create your student’s account in our system, generate a student ID, and send you the login instructions. Registrations received after the deadline will be automatically enrolled in the next available online class.

Key details for online driver’s education:

  1. The email provided during your student’s registration will be used for sending login instructions and communication with the instructor regarding any missing assignments. You may opt to use a parent’s email if you wish to stay informed.
  2. Please include a cell phone number (parent or student) in case extra verification is needed.
  3. The class runs for 6 weeks. Units are released on Monday mornings, and students have until Sunday night to complete them. Self-motivation is key!
  4. There are no set login times, but students must log in each week to complete the assigned modules.
  5. A 78% or higher is required to pass the course and move on to Behind-the-Wheel (BTW). Students can redo assignments anytime during the course to improve their grade.
  6. Our Blackboard system works best with Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explorer is not compatible.
  7. The permit tests (knowledge and road signs) will be taken at the DMV once your student turns 15. The final exam in the online class is not the permit test.
  8. Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll receive a confirmation email with next steps for BTW. The fee for BTW is $295.
