Raider Fitness Center

Raider Fitness Center Is Open

The Hudson School District is committed to providing a fitness environment that mitigates the risks associated with the spread of COVID-19 for our members and staff. The following operation expectations and procedures will be implemented until further notice. All operation expectations and procedures are subject to change based on information from state and local public health agencies or governmental orders.

The impact of COVID-19 on the health of individuals is not yet fully known. Certain groups, including people aged 65 or older and those with serious underlying medical conditions, such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, are at higher risk of hospitalization and serious complications. Transmission is most likely when people are in close contact with an infected person, even if that person does not have symptoms.

There is inherent risk to engaging in activities where others have, or are, gathered. The Hudson School District will take measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 but cannot guarantee people using the Raider Fitness Center or other school facilities will not be potentially exposed to the virus.

Key prevention practices include:

  • Physical distancing to the maximum extent possible, but no less than 6 feet.
  • Use of face coverings or masks.
  • Frequent handwashing and regular cleaning and disinfecting.

Health and Safety For All

This information may change based on guidance from state and local health agencies and the WI Department of Public Instruction.

  • Anyone with symptoms related to COVID-19 (fever of 100 or above, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) will not be allowed into the school or Fitness Center. If you are sick, stay home. If you have a temperature, stay home. If someone in your house is sick, stay home.
  • All Fitness Center members MUST legibly sign in with name, date and time. We want to be able to inform individuals if they have been potentially exposed to COVID-19 while at the Fitness Center.
  • If ill, do not return to the Fitness Center until 72 hours beyond your symptoms (without the use of fever reducing medication). If your symptoms worsen, contact your healthcare provider to determine if you should be tested for COVID-19.
  • Positive Test Result: If you are diagnosed with COVID-19, you must remain out of the Fitness Center/school for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms or from the notification of a positive test result if asymptomatic. The following conditions must also be met in order to return:
    • You must be 3 days beyond symptoms and no fever (without using fever reducing medication). For example, if you are at day 9 and still have a fever, you will not be able to return to work for at least another three days.
    • Depending on your healthcare provider’s advice and availability of testing, you may be asked to get tested to see if you still have COVID-19.
  • Symptoms without Test: If you are not using a COVID-19 test and have reason to believe you were exposed, and have a fever or other COVID-19 like symptoms, you must remain out of the Fitness Center/school for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms.
  • Close Contact with Positive Case: If you believe you have had close contact with someone with COVID-19 but do not have symptoms, you  should monitor for fever, cough, and shortness of breath during the 14 days after the last day you were in close contact with the sick person. You should not come to the Fitness Center/school and avoid public places for 14 days.
  • A confirmed case of COVID-19 may require closure of all or a portion of the School District’s facilities. We will be working in coordination with St. Croix Public Health to determine actions we will need to take. Closures will depend on the nature of exposure risk.
  • We will notify individuals of any confirmed cases  of COVID-19 they may have been exposed to.

What to expect when you arrive at the Fitness Center?

  1. All Raider Fitness Center members and daily users must sign in at the check-in desk. You must legibly sign your name, date and time at the Fitness Center. We encourage you to use your own pen/pencil.
  2. Members are asked to wear face masks as you enter and leave the building.
  3. Fitness Center staff will wear masks at the check-in desk.
  4. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizers before moving into the Fitness Center.
  5. Only 10 members will be allowed into the Fitness Center at one time.

The Raider Fitness Center/Hudson School District maintains the right to refuse service to anyone exhibiting symptoms or not following facility guidelines.

While using the Fitness Center:

  1. When walking through the facility, maintain a distance of at least six feet from other members (unless members share the same household) and employees if at all possible.
  2. Following one-way foot traffic directions on track.
  3. Plan your workout routine ahead of time to avoid lingering and socializing. This will allow more members to work out given the reduced occupancy necessitated by distancing requirements.
  4. Limit the items you touch within the gym to only the items you will use.
  5. Avoid using lifting gloves or other personal items that are not easily cleaned.
  6. Wipe down machines and equipment when you are finished. Please place a “Ready to Clean” tag on the machine when you are done so staff are aware to disinfect the equipment/machine.
  7. If you use the kettle bells, exercise bands, mats, or other small equipment,  place the items used next to the Fitness Center entry for staff to disinfect.
  8. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before you leave the facility.
  9. If you have the urge to sneeze or cough, put on your mask (if not already wearing one) or cover your nose and mouth with the inside of your elbow. Wash your hands and face thoroughly before returning to your activity.

To help reduce the spread of infection, we have the following Fitness Center cleaning/ disinfection expectations:

  • We will maintain an adequate supply of cleaning and disinfection products. Please let staff know if you notice supplies needing replacement.
  • A daily cleaning log will track how often cleaning is conducted for high touch surfaces like door handles, railings, water bottle fillers, and restrooms.
  • Equipment will be disinfected before and after each use.
  • Additional cleaning of the facility will be provided by the Hudson School District Facilities and Grounds staff.
