What services do School Social Workers provide?

School social workers help students resolve problems that interfere with adjustment to school and the ability to have a successful educational experience. As a team member, social workers assist with special education evaluations and provide direct services. They also provide the following kinds of services:

  • Provide families with information regarding access to appropriate resources and understanding students’ individual needs
  • Assist in the establishment and planning of respective staff roles in the modification of students’ behavior
  • Social skill training and group or individual counseling
  • Provide advocacy services for abuse victims
