New Immunization Requirements – Attention 7th – 12th grade families

On May 20, 2024, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WI DHS) released updated immunization requirements for schools.

The updated requirements impact  incoming 7th thru 12th grade students. Please review the following immunization requirements that may be new for your child:

  • 1 Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap) or tetanus/diphtheria (Td) required for entry to 7th grade.

    • Previously required for entry into 6th grade.

  • 1 Meningococcal conjugate/MenACWY-containing vaccine required for entry to 7th grade.

    • Not previously required.

  • 1 Meningococcal conjugate/MenACWY-containing vaccine BOOSTER required for entry to 12th grade.

    • Not previously required.

  • Chickenpox/Varicella verification by a qualified healthcare provider – families who state their child had a case of Chickenpox/Varicella will be required to provide verification of the diagnosis by a qualified healthcare provider (M.D., D.O., N.P., or P.A.)

    • Healthcare provider verification not previously required.

Students in grades 7-12 are required to have the following minimum immunizations per state statute (s.252.04), Wis. In Wisconsin, immunization boosters are a grade requirement, not an age requirement.

Grade 12 4DTP/DTaP/DT 1 Tdap 4 Polio 2 MMR 2 Varicella 3 Hep B 2 Meningococcal

The School District requires a vaccination record for boosters or the appropriate waiver(s). If you have questions about your child’s immunization record, please contact your healthcare provider. You may view your child’s current school immunization record under the Health tab on Skyward Family Access.
