Message from the Coach
- In my third year of coaching Hudson Tennis, 2nd as the head coach, we’re going to continue to build on some of the structures put in place from the previous few years. We want to be able to compete at a high level while also doing so the Raider way- sportsmanship, integrity, and yet a hunger to win and compete. The theme this year building on last years theme of remaining CALM (Character, Attitude, Leadership, Motivation) is to build “Habits, Not Goals.” Winning the conference and achieving high goals should be on everyone’s mind when setting out for any particular sporting season. However, with only one team that can win the conference, that shouldn’t mean our season was a ‘failure’ if we aren’t that team. This year we aim to focus on what we can control on the day to day for practice, what we can control in matches, and build habits that will lead to future success down the road for the Hudson Tennis Program.
- We will have a parent/athlete meeting on Tuesday, March 19th so I can formally introduce myself and introduce my assistant, Kennedy Fransen. We encourage everyone to attend even if you were a part of the tennis program last year. We would like to articulate our message for our vision and goals to anyone who wants to be a part of Hudson Tennis.
- Tryouts will begin Monday, March 25th at the Hudson High School tennis courts and finish Friday, March 29th. Teams will be announced at the end of the week. Teams will be selected first are the top 16 spots. Next is the 16 spots for Junior Varsity and the remaining players on the JV 2 squad. Tryouts will consist of hitting drills and matches to assess the level of skill each player has. ALL paperwork must be completed to participate in tryouts!
- We also have a class set up through the Remind app. Class code is hsbtn. This is where I send out information to players/parents.
- Looking forward to a great season -Nick DeMoulin
