Speech And Debate (formerly known as Forensics)

The Speech and Debate team has 2 separate branches and students may participate in either Speech or Debate or both! The Speech Team competes at 3 open Invitationals against other schools to earn medals and awards (Saturdays in February) and 2 leveled tournaments (Sub Districts and Districts) usually take place in February/March) that culminate in a run at State mid-April in Madison. Some categories are speech-based while others involve interpretation and acting. Categories include: Demonstration, Expository, Extemporaneous speaking, Farrago, Group Interpretation, Informational Speaking, Impromptu, Moments in History, Oratory, Play Acting, Poetry, Prose, Public Address, Radio Speaking, Solo Acting, Special Occasion and Storytelling. The Debate Team competes in a series of monthly online debates via Zoom against other schools around the country October through March and also at the State Competition in April.
