As part of the School District’s Access and Transition Program that works to increase employment for youth with disabilities, our students invited their legislators to work last month. Senator Patty Schachtner and Representative Shannon Zimmerman joined the students at their various worksites including Knoke’s Chocolates, Croix Gear, and Christian Community Homes.

• People with disabilities have 34% fewer safety accidents.
• Absenteeism is 40% less than that of their peers.
• 90% of people with disabilities perform equal to, or better than that of their peers.

The S.A.D.D. student group at the High School recently held a “Tie a Blanket” party and asked advisories to make their own blankets.  All of the tie blankets will be delivered to Northwest Passage in Grantsburg, WI and Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis for their younger patients who won’t be home for the holidays and winter break. During the blanket party, ten (10) blankets were made with the help of our amazing HHS students!

The Hudson Rhinestone Raiders showcased their talent and dance routines with their counterparts from Stillwater and St. Croix Central High Schools.

Hudson and River Falls teamed up to host the 7th annual Rhythm by the River Marching Band Competition at Hudson on Sunday.  Seven schools participated in two performance classes and were judged by a panel of 8 music and marching band professionals.

Congratulations to Tom Klatt, high school Technology Education and Project Lead the Way instructor, on being awarded a $1,774.00 Ann Marie Grant for CNC Plasma Cutting Software. This software allows students to intricately and accurately create designs and cut metal. The award will help purchase software and equipment to increase the number of student workstations from the current one to four.

Hudson Raiders Girls Varsity Golf Team qualified for next week’s Sectional Tournament in Stevens Point with a team score of 391. First place went to New Richmond and second place went to River Falls. Eau Claire Memorial finished fourth which also qualified their team. Congratulations to the Raiders Girls Golf Team for this benchmark accomplishment with our program!
