Healthcare Careers Class Takes Part in Healthcare Discovery Day

On Friday, December 7th, around 35 Introduction to Healthcare Careers class students participated in Healthcare Discovery Day. The purpose of the day is to provide students with  knowledge about the careers available within the healthcare field through conversations with healthcare professionals, demonstrations, and facilities tours.  They toured Christian Community Home and Presbyterian Homes & Service’s Woodland Hill in Hudson, to learn about long term and geriatric care. The group proceeded to Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin where they were able to meet the therapy dog , Edgrrr the Dogtor, and learn about the services provided there. Students also had the opportunity to see the ER and hear from ER and OB nurses, phlebotomists, a social worker as well as other healthcare professionals.  The day concluded with a visit to St. Croix Therapy and Catalyst Sports medicine in Hudson to hear about PT, OT, and sports medicine.
